Take sometime to meditate on Matthew 18:1-5 and Luke 22:24-27, share on the forum with each other.

Meditate on the following scriptures 1 Cor. 6:12 / 1 Tim 4:8-10; / 2 Tim 2:4-7;  / 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, then share on the forum with each other.

WEEK 2º

Day 6º | Session 1

  • 1.Have you ever been part of an apostolic team?  Describe that experience and your particular part in it.
  • 2.What kind of fruit have you born thus far?  Evangelistic?  Teaching? Prophetic?  Healing or other signs and wonders?  Organising and administration?  
  •  3. Can you think of other gifts or abilities that are important to healthy apostolic teams?

Day 7º | Session 2

  • 1. Are you convinced that God speaks and that he speaks to you?  Have you heard his voice telling you to take some action that you think is beyond your ability?  If so, how did you respond? 

    If not, do you want to hear Him?  Will you give him an unconditional “yes” even before He speaks to you?  (That is a key to hearing God)
  • 2. Who are your elders?  Do you seek their counsel?
  •  3. Are you in a body/group of believers with good relationships?  Do you rely on them to help you hear and understand what God is saying?

  • 1. Can you think of anyone you know who bears the fruit of an apostle? 
  • 2. Do you know any women or perhaps young people who show the signs of apostolic calling?  If someone claims that only men can be apostles, do you have a Biblical answer for them?
  •  3. Why should we not use the term “apostolic” to refer to a position?

  • 1. Can you/will you make room for highly gifted people?
  • 2. Do you require new, gifted people to prove their submission to you?  Is that a good thing to do?
  •  3. Are you a person who encourages others?  (You might be like Barnabas, who helped launch one of the most fruitful ministries in history.) 

 

  • 4. Are you disciplined?  Are you accountable to others for growth in character?

 

  • 5. Can you identify with Timothy?  Or Barnabas?  Or Paul?

  • 1. Can you think of failures that turned out to be great learning experiences?
  • 2. Or can you think of failures that disqualified the leader from further leadership?
  •  3. What was the difference between them?

  • 1. If Christlike leadership requires a genuine love for people, how healthy is your leadership?  Do you pray for more love, for a softer heart?
  • 2. If another part of leadership is helping people to believe for a better future, how do you convey that?  Can you describe that vision in a memorable way?
  •  3. Have you ever asked the people you lead (preferably one at a time) to tell you what the vision of your ministry is?

  • 1. Do you think you are a “quick processor” or a “slow/deep processor”?
  • 2. Do you often listen well and then feedback to the other person, so they know they have been understood?  Or do you have to work at that?
  •  3. Do you tend to look at your phone during conversations, or convey disinterest in other ways?

  • 1. When did you last have a conversation that was sure to fail even before it began?  Why was that so?
  • 2. Have you distanced yourself from anyone and let it remain that way?
  •  3. Do you need to practice listening skills for crucial conversations?  How will you do that?.

  • 1. Can you recall successful crucial conversations?  Why did they succeed?

 

  • 2. Are you currently putting off an important conversation?

 

  •  3. Do you tend to marginalize and not speak to people with whom you have disagreements?  What should you do instead of that?

 

  • 4. Are you willing to schedule that conversation you should have?

  • 1. Have you ever had an unresolved dispute that needed a witness?  How did you go about it from there?
  • 2. How can you find a witness who is acceptable to both parties (you and the other person)?
  •  3. Do you have to be willing to abide by mediation?

  • Are you eager to lead, or are you willing, but waiting to be asked?
  • What is your experience of Elders and Deacons working together?
  • The scriptures say that an elder or deacon must have a healthy family.  Can there be exceptions to that?

  • If you are in a leadership role, were you appointed in a healthy process?
  • Are you, and any other leaders on your team, comfortable with YWAM’s foundational documents?

 

  • Do you have good relationships with people who are leaders in your life?

  • How do you react when another leader disagrees with you?
  • If you are in regular leadership team meetings, are they boring?  Why?
  • How do you prevent the difficult pastoral problems from taking too much time?
  • How do you prevent a leadership meeting from meandering?

  • What was the reason for calling this meeting and why was it so important?

 

  • James was chosen to chair the meeting.  Why?  Why not Peter?

 

  • Every important opinion should be heard, but how can you keep the meeting from going on much longer than it could?

 

  • How is a decision reached and who should explain it?

 

  • Should every decision have a plan for implementation?  If so, why?

  • Can we keep disciplinary situations from becoming hurtful?  What are the attitudes and principles that will help avoid hurt?
  • Why is team leadership important in the context of disciplining others?
  • When should you take notes of a “crucial conversation”?  Can you think of a wise way to get the other person to agree to the notes and sign them?

  • What circumstances or settings can make you feel insecure?
  • Have you been the target of an insecure leader, or have you seen someone else go through that?  What was the result?
  • What can be done to help an insecure leader overcome his/her weakness?

  • How do you react when you think your leadership is being rejected?  Have you experienced that or seen another person go through it? 
  • Why is it so hard for us to humble ourselves?

 

  • How does team leadership help us overcome insecurity?

 

  • If you are in a leadership position and it’s not going well, do you know a more senior leader whom you can call on?

  • For the past two or three decades, technology has brought the availability of sexual temptation closer to us and cheaper until, with smartphones, the object in our pocket can open up a world of free or inexpensive sexually tempting images.  Can you describe how tempting that is for you and how you deal with it?
  • Digital sexual temptation sells a distorted image of sexual encounters.  Think about and discuss how the digital world seeks to deceive us.
  • Are you open and honest with anyone else about how you are coping with sexual temptation—whether it is digital or actual dangerous, physical attraction to someone other than a spouse?

  • Do you keep accurate records of your income and expenditure?  Could you look at your accounts and say you are generous?

  • What are the things that tempt you to spend money that you don’t have, or owe somewhere else?

  • Are you deeply convinced that God will provide for you generously as you learn his ways and practise them?

  • Can you think of financial decisions you have made, or will be faced with, where a conflict of interest could be likely?
